Nowdays there are two main forms of playing bridge. There is the bridge played at home or at clubs and there is the bridge played in tournaments like a sport.

The main difference is that in a tournament the same distribution of hands are played at more tables so there is the possibility of the comparison. Because of this the bridge can be played like a sport. Each of the hands are played by all the pairs. The competition is won by the pair who reach the best results of most of the hands. This sort of bridge is also known as the duplicate bridge. There are competitions organized in the form of pairs and team tournaments and nowdays there also individual tournaments.
